October 15, 2024 – First Look: Farbman Group and Healthrise Unveil New Headquarters in Farmington Hills

2024 10 22 12 32 39

After years of eyeing the logistics and cultural synergies of a shared office headquarters, Farbman Group, a full-service real estate firm formerly based in Southfield, has moved into a new central office in Farmington Hills designed by famed architect Minoru Yamasaki.

The two-story, 40,000-square-foot headquarters, located at 31700 Middlebelt Road (just north of Northwestern Highway), re-unifies Farbman Group with its family-owned enterprises for the first time in a decade. The company was founded in 1976 by the late Burton Farbman.

Farbman’s family-owned enterprises, all located on the second floor, include Huntington Construction, Apex Mechanical Solutions, NAI Farbman, Huntington Maintenance, Campusville, and Carbon TV. The first floor is occupied by Healthrise, a company founded and run by CEO David Farbman.

In addition, there are a half dozen private tenants, including Beyond Basics, a nonprofit literacy organization that teach students to read at their grade level or higher within six weeks.

Built in 1987, the Class A building includes surface and below grade parking, multiple trees and landscaping treatments, two large kitchens, 10-foot-high ceilings, and multiple other amenities.

“Given our specialty serving a wide range of commercial clients, we wanted to practice what we preach by investing in our people, which meant investing in a new headquarters to accommodate all of our employees,” says Andrew V. Farbman, CEO of Farbman Group.

“We wanted to be along Northwestern between 12 Mile Road and Orchard Lake Road, and there aren’t a lot of buildings that typically come up for sale. When we were fortunate enough to acquire our new building, it not only fit our current needs, but also provided room for expansion.”

During a tour of the space, the two levels offered seemingly all the latest technology equipment for employees and clients, along with a number of lounges, a team meeting area in the Healthrise space that offered tiered seating and a presentation space, a workout center, and kitchens.

Another highlight in the Healthrise space was a gaming room that includes a golf simulator, a ping pong table, amusement games, and other activities.

“At Healthrise, culture is a massive piece of our business,” says David Farbman, CEO of Healthrise, an advanced health care technology and business solutions provider. “We have people all over the country and overseas, so when we get everyone together for all an teams meeting, we wanted our new space to really feel like a home.”

Andy Gutman, president of Farbman Group, says the company has 100 employees in the new headquarters, and a similar number of workers out in the field working across 23 separate facilities in the Midwest.

Overall, Farbman Group handles all facets of real estate transactions, from property management and leasing to construction, to acquisition and disposition. The firm manages more than 30 million square feet of office, retail, multifamily, student housing, and industrial space throughout the Midwest and beyond.

October 8, 2024 – NAI Farbman brokers unique office transaction in Southfield

NAI Farbman supported three companies in the gifting and trading of a 114,397-square-foot Class-A office building at 28333 Telegraph Road in Southfield, Michigan, between the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation, Volunteers of America and Tamaroff Jeffrey Automotive Group.

The H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation, a California-based nonprofit that supports established organizations promoting healthcare, social services and education, purchased the asset in 2012 as an investment and, given the current state of the office industry, opted to gift the property to another nonprofit organization.

David Haboian, Senior Vice President of Operations at REDICO, and Edward Wujek, Executive Vice President at CBRE, represented the seller H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation in the transaction.

The H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation gifted the asset to Volunteers of America, a Virginia-based nonprofit organization founded in 1896 that provides affordable housing and other assistance to low-income people throughout the U.S. Volunteers of America executed an analysis on the office building to determine if it could be converted into a multi-story thrift store, a common practice for the group who operates dozens of thrift stores nationwide.

The thrift store conversion turned out to be too difficult to execute. The office asset then quickly traded to the Tamaroff Jeffrey Automotive Group, a longstanding local automotive dealer of new and used cars for 50+ years in the metro Detroit market. As a result, Volunteers of America raised money for their charity by trading this important asset.

The transaction closed in 45 days and solved three challenges. All three brokers successfully coordinated the property conveyance from a charity to a non-profit, followed by a sale to an investor. As such, an optimal outcome was achieved for all three companies involved.

Farbman Group, a full-service commercial real estate company, has finished renovations on Bingham Connect, an interactive amenity space within the Farbman-owned and -managed Bingham Office Center in Bingham Farms, Michigan.

Bingham Connect was transformed from a cafeteria into a 3,000-square-foot interactive amenity room that consists of several breakout areas, table games, new furniture and design fixtures, and more.

The firm partnered with West Bloomfield-based Soul Studio, an art program and gallery by Friendship Circle, that provides adults 18+ with special needs a safe space to create and connect through art. Farbman Group commissioned a mural, “Sunflowers” by local artist Megan Donely, to brighten up the new Bingham Connect space with color and joy.

Farbman Group closed the sale of 15001 Sibley Road, formerly the Sportsmen’s Den in Riverview, Michigan. Nanci Tarpley, sales and leasing associate for Farbman Group, brokered the deal.

The Sportsmen’s Den, operated by the Orlando family for more than four decades, was sold to local restaurateur Jeremy Syrocki for an undisclosed price. “The Den had a rich history rooted in Michigan sports, from serving the Michigan Wolverines college football program to catering regularly for the Detroit Tigers,” said Tarpley.

May 10, 2021 – Farbman Group Extends Sculpture Milwaukee Art Installation In Chase Tower Building

Art Installation In Chase Tower

Here at Farbman Group, our commitment to creating and managing places that are true community resources includes a strong commitment to public art. From murals to statuary, public art installations are more than just an aesthetic upgrade—they a great way to make public spaces more appealing and engaging. Art helps to foster the kind of social connections and vibrant civic energy that distinguishes the most memorable built environments.

That’s why we are pleased to announce that we have extended the rights to the current art installation at Chase Tower, one of our properties in Milwaukee, for another year. The piece is Gild The Lily (Caribbean Hybrid, I, II, III) by Sculpture Milwaukee artist Carlos Rolón. Rolón is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work employs a wide range of media to explore themes of craft, ritual, beauty, spirituality and cultural identity. His work has been presented around the globe at solo exhibitions in some of the most respected institutions in the world, including The Dallas Contemporary in Dallas; the Bass Museum of Art in Miami; the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead, UK; the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico; the New Orleans Museum of Art in New Orleans; and CAM Contemporary Art Museum in St. Louis.

Sculpture Milwaukee is a non-profit organization doing outstanding work to transform downtown Milwaukee’s cultural landscape. The group holds an annual outdoor exhibition of world-renowned artwork that serves as a catalyst for community engagement, economic development and creative placemaking.

Rolón’s art was originally installed in the Chase Tower in 2019. A reproduction of the artist’s original triptych painting, the installation sheaths the exterior of the Chase Bank building’s lobby cube with a translucent diorama of tropical flowers, making the “bird cage” lobby the largest sculpture in the region.

Rolón’s Chase Tower installation quickly became a staple of the architectural aesthetic of the building. Gild The Lily (Caribbean Hybrid, I, II, III) is such an iconic and recognizable piece of art that it is difficult to imagine Chase Tower without it. By extending the rights to the piece, Farbman is making sure that Rolón’s creative prowess and Sculpture Milwaukee’s partnership will continue to make the building a standout in the downtown Milwaukee business district for the foreseeable future.

“As an artist, it’s extremely rewarding for people to identify a building known for its modernist importance with a body of work you have personally created,” said Rolón. “I couldn’t be happier that Farbman Group decided to extend my installation, and thus, invested in keeping this visual piece on display for passersby to enjoy for another year.”

By turning the transparent lobby into a glowing jewel box, Rolón’s installation is not only admired by the hundreds of people who work within the building every day, but has become a striking and recognizable feature on the civic landscape of the City of Milwaukee. In the process, it has reaffirmed the Farbman Group mission to strengthen community connections and make their people and places an indispensable part of the neighborhoods in which they reside.

Introducing Carbon Unwind: The Sleep And Meditation App Based On Nature And The Outdoors
CarbonTV Catapults Ahead With This Innovative App

DETROIT Sept. 8, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — The need for a restorative night’s rest has potentially never been greater and more elusive than right now. Job loss, social distancing, and racial tensions have left millions of Americans stressed out. Carbon Unwind, the new sleep and meditation app that launches September 8, developed by the premier online video destination for outdoor themed shows, CarbonTV, brings the healing power of nature inside, so people can get the deep sleep they need to feel rested and less stressed.

“We are excited to finally announce our new app: Carbon Unwind! Our team at CarbonTV has been working on this for the past year, enlisting the help of some inspirational Storytellers and talented guided meditation experts! While our free streaming content on CarbonTV will get you excited about the outdoor content, Unwind will bring mindfulness and relaxation, and better sleep cycles, into your life through nature and the outdoors. I couldn’t be more proud of what we have developed, and it’s exciting to see this becoming such a huge success!” said Julie McQueen, president, CarbonTV and founder of Unwind.

While Carbon Unwind will appeal to those who love the outdoors, people interested in health and wellness, restorative healing and fitness will find the app equally appealing. The app features storytellers, many of them experts in their respective fields, including McQueen, Skull Bound Chronicles TV host Jana Waller, Blood Origins founder Robbie Kroger, survivalist, documentarian and Naked and Afraid star Laura Zerra, The Crush co-host Tiffany Lakosky and Carbon Media Group founder and The Hunt: Target, Track and Attain Your Goals author David Farbman. Some of the storytellers read their own original works, such as Farbman reading from his New York Times best-selling book The Hunt.

“As a mom to two toddlers with a full-time job and a very active household to manage, finding a few minutes of peace and serenity is rare! The Unwind app by CarbonTV is the perfect solution for our family as it brings the soothing sounds and elements of the outdoors that we love right to your fingertips. And the stories for children both educate, inspire and promote relaxation. In our world of always on the go, the Carbon Unwind app is a sanity lifesaver!” said Tiffany Lakosky, host, CRUSH with Lee & Tiffany

Carbon Unwind will also feature an entire section for kids, allowing parents to play sleep stories for the little ones that encourage mindfulness and adventure instead of any negative emotions brought on by television shows or late-night social media.

For those seeking to unwind throughout the day, guided meditations and visualizations will be added to the platform a few times a week. These will be geared specifically toward topics like mindfulness, gratitude, and nature to facilitate a more peaceful state of mind. A section of Carbon Unwind will be dedicated to travel-related meditation and relaxation techniques, which is timely because of the recent apprehension surrounding travel and flight after COVID-19.

Research shows that even if they’re artificial, sounds of nature can help our body relax and could be especially beneficial for those with high-stress. According to a study by Sleep Research Society, nearly one third of Americans get fewer than 6 hours of sleep per night. Seven hours of sleep is recommended for adults and is optimal for boosting overall health and mood. Research shows that stress and the lack of sleep or poor quality sleep increases the risks of a myriad of bad things, like high blood pressure, depression, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and obesity.

Available on iOS and coming soon for Android users, Carbon Unwind offers a free trial and a premium subscription upgrade options. A 12-month introductory subscription price is $59.99. The subscription unlocks additional guided meditations, weekly sleep story additions, special guest storytellers, acoustic music and nature soundscapes as they are added throughout coming months. Download the app at: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id1512187506
